July 27-31

A missions camp for completed 4th & 5th graders.

Join us for a week-long summer missions camp, with some special 2020 twists.  Our theme this year is "Be My Neighbor."  We are going to focus on being followers of Christ through service to those who live closest to us.

This year we will do a mix of video calls, individual projects, and one in-person day of camp.  We will assign daily service projects and provide a few supplies ahead of time.  Here's a schedule overview:

9:00 am Video Call: Devotional Time
9:45 am Service Projects: students work on the day's assigned service project in their own neighborhoods
12:15 pm Video Call: Debrief, Lunch, and Virtual Games

*One day, likely Friday depending on weather, will be in-person at the church and community garden.

Register here to participate and contact Pastor Heather or Pastor Tim with questions.

Project Parables

Calling all children age 4 - completed 5th grade.     June 15 - July 13.

Join us this summer for Project Parables, a 5 week remote summer camp that explores some of Jesus' most famous parables through video stories and a variety of weekly activities.

To participate, you must register on georgetownbaptist.org

Registrations will now go on a waitlist. We would love to include you if we can. We will contact you soon.

About Project Parables

Each Monday a new parable story video will be uploaded to multiple viewing platforms.  Registered families will receive a list of 4+ activities to go along with each week's parable.  Some supplies will be common household items and others will be provided via a pickup location at the church.  Activities are designed to serve a variety of ages and learning styles.  Your family can do all 4 activities throughout the week or choose one or two that interest you.  Some can be done independently too.  There will also be ways to share your family's creations and communicate with other campers.

We want to keep everyone safe this summer by observing social distancing.  Unfortunately that means we will be postponing our usual VBS activities until we can be together in a large group again.  But we can still learn together and have fun! Hope to see you at Project Parables: A Remote Summer Camp.

Participant Information

Parable Videos

All of the Project Parables videos will be posted to the Georgetown Baptist YouTube channel and Georgetown Baptist Church Facebook page. Every Monday from June 15 - July 13, a video will post at 9 am. You can view each Parable at any time in the week. Be sure to watch the parable before you start the activities.

Activities & Supplies

Activity instructions will be included in your supply kits as print copies. They will also be emailed in PDF form to the email address you provided on the day of supply kit pick-up.

All of the “Church Provides” supplies will be included in your supply kits. We plan for 3 supply kit pick-ups. This will allow us to ensure that everyone who wants to participate can receive supplies in a timely fashion.

Pick up your supplies from the Georgetown Baptist Preschool Building front porch on the pick-up dates below. Pull up to the curb and we will bring you your supply kit. We will be masked and likely in silly costumes too, just to make it more fun!

Pick-up dates:
Sunday, June 14 4:00-6:00 pm (Week 1)
Saturday, June 20 4:00-6:00 pm (Weeks 2-3)
Sunday, July 5 4:00-6:00 pm (Weeks 4-5)

If you are unable to make the pick-up time, we will leave your supply kit on the Preschool Building Porch for you to pick up and try to connect with you via phone.

Inasmuch Day: Spring 2020

OperationInAsMuch.jpg

This Spring’s OIAM is a little different as we consider social distancing. Instead of gathering together on a specific date, we are engaging in a season of service as individual households.

Choose a service project for yourself or your household and choose your own timing to do it in. Send us of photo of you serving so that we can include it in our slideshow. We will wrap up our Season of Service on June 7 with a celebratory slideshow of all of these photos.

Send your photos to Christie Bray by June 4 @ (575) 491-9208 or christie.bray@scott.kyschools.us

If you have a need, please contact the church or Christie Bray. We would love to connect you with someone wanting to help. If you want to serve, you can choose your own project, do a project from the ideas below, or contact the church or Christie Bray to be put on a list to serve any needs we hear about.

Easter Egg Hunt @ A Distance

Have an Eggcellent Day!.jpg

Usually we would be gathering this week for church, community, and family Easter egg hunts. With the need for social distancing, we can't do our usual egg hunt traditions. BUT, we can still have some Easter fun. After all, Christ is risen! Eggs still remind us of the resurrection and the possibility of new life in Christ.

This year's Easter Egg Hunt @ A Distance is a way for us to stay safe, keep each other safe, and still have some egg hunting fun. Here's how it works:

We've put out lawn signs at designated addresses around Georgetown. Each sign is decorated with Easter eggs and reveals a number-letter combination (ex: 15 = P) that will help decode the secret Easter message.

Solve the coded Easter message by driving around to each address, finding the Egg Hunt sign, and recording the revealed letter into every blank with that number.

BONUS: How many total Easter Eggs did you see on the signs?

NOTES:

Even if you park and walk to some of these signs, remember to keep social distance!

Many of our addresses are homes of church members. Give a wave as you pass by the house to share some Easter joy.
